VISION – To provide fresh, locally grown produce utilizing sustainable Hydroponics & Aquaponics aqua farming technologies
Aquaculture, the growing of fish, and
Hydroponics, the growing of plants in water.
Fish waste is filtered and natural bacteria turn it into a usable fertilizer for the plants.
Plants then uptake that fertilizer and clean the water for the fish.
This cycle repeats, creating a recirculating system where fish and plants thrive together.
Seeds·2·Substance is currently:
Utilizing a 1,500 sq ft climate controlled greenhouse.
Producing approximately 500 units of produce weekly

“Buzzard Roost Creations”

Buzzard Roost Creations is a family owned business that produces hand crafted and hand framed art, owned and operated by Judy and Raymond Tolman.

An author as well as artist, Buzzard Roost Creations is offering “The Family at Serpientes,” the first of the Serpent Trilogy, a fictional book about a young girl from Camp Creek, Tennessee who finds herself in New Mexico as a member of a family of historical detectives. Several books are currently being published such as a non- fiction book, “Southwestern Meanderings,” a non-fictional book about the Southwest and Explorations into the Lost State of Franklin, is currently being published by Sunstone Publishing of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Judy was born and raised in Greene county Tennessee. A graduate of Greeneville High School she attended college at Carson Neuman and ETSU. After teaching Special Education for several years she became a Regional Consultant for SRA-McGraw Hill. She now takes care of the required business operations. Raymond, who is the author as well as an artist, grew up in New Mexico where he taught science for several years before moving to East Tennessee. During his youth in New Mexico, he was an avid hiker, hunter, speleologist and river runner which has had a profound impact on his writing and art.

“Cedar Ridge Farm”

  

Paul & Anne have been Beekeeping for several years. They are happy with the results and the product their bees are producing, and are offering their local honey to consumers at the Greeneville Farmers Market on Saturdays during the market season from 9 am to 1 pm.

 

Cedar Ridge Farm also sells through our year-round online market, gfm.locallygrown.net

 

This year they have added Lip Balms, Creamed Honey and so many other items to their list

 

Orders may be picked up Saturdays with GFM.

CHRISTY DID

 

  

My shop name is Christy Did, a play on my name.  I love to do machine embroidery and sew as well as other crafts.

 

Blame it on my grandmothers!  One taught me to do crafts and the other to use the sewing machine.  I was hooked.

 

I grew up in Harrison, Ohio and spent a lot of each summer at my great-grandmother’s farm in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.   Got married and moved to Johnson City in 1973.  My husband is retired from the Johnson City Fire Department.  We have one adult son.

 

When I retired I was able to sew my days away, especially on my embroidery machine.  Not wanting to appear on Hoarders, I started doing craft fairs, markets, etc.  I opened a shop on Etsy, Christy Did, where I sell embroidered items, doll clothes and such.

 

I plan on being a more frequent vendor at GFM this 2018 season.  I had a blast the few times I made it last summer.  It is a great place to be on a Saturday morning with some great folks!

RURAL RESOURCES

Rural Resources Farm is on a former tobacco farm where we now practice sustainable methods to ensure this land for future generations of farmers. We practice organic farming methods, and only use antibiotics as needed and prescribed by the vet. We are a local non-profit connecting farms, food, and families through educational experiences. One of those educational experiences is our Farm and Food Teen Training Program that works with at-risk low income youth from around the county that have food security issues to help improve their food choices and availability. We do this through an intensive 4 year program where teens progress through different levels of food production. In year 1 the teens learn garden and livestock managements with the opportunity of having a home garden. The second year, the teens work with local chefs to learn how to cook fresh food in a healthy manner and use different kitchen equipment from standard home equipment to commercial. During the year, teens also cater meals in the community to reinforce skills they have learned and pick up some job skills. The 3rd and 4th year our teens learn about business development, planning, and implementation. Through this program, pigs have become the teens main livestock learning opportunity.

 
Heritage hogs are becoming very popular to grow on pastures again as farmers begin to think more about sustainable practices. *Rural Resources Farm and Food Teen Training Program *have been raising a heritage hog, hereford, over the past 10 years. The teens have been producing a few each year for meat production and have begun selling the meat to help cover expenses. The pastured pork program has allowed at-risk low income teens to learn about animal husbandry and business practices. They have spent time learning about rotational grazing practices and the use of cover crops to feed our little herd. The hogs have allowed the teens a hand on experience on farming and food security. Beyond this learning, the teens have learned responsibility, life skills, communication skills, business planning and implementation, and customer service. This project allows us many opportunities to support our mission of connecting farms, food, and families. Beyond just raising the pork for sale, a few piglets in the stock each year are gifted to teens for them to raise for meat to help support their families’ food needs. Purchasing our pork is supporting not only a local farm, but a mission that is making an impact in our community to help educate youth about their food and to impact those who are food insecure.

(you do not have to be a regular vendor to sell with our online market, however we would welcome you to join us) Please Bring a Dish to Share. GFM will provide silverware, coffee, tea, and paper products.
