Supporting Women around the Globe

SUPPORTING WOMEN AROUND THE GLOBE

Coming to Greeneville Farmers Market July 11 and July 18, 9 am to 1 pm. ,ESTROG.

Fair trade for women around the globe. Below is a little history of Estrog written by the founder Yvette Davidson.

History

After 27 years owning a small chain of boutiques, Ahead of Our Time, I have decided to go into fair trading with women throughout the world in oppressed areas.  Through home parties, markets, festivals and events Estrog will bring awareness and product to the interested consumer.  Estrog strives to bring awareness to female oppression throughout the world.  The hope is to bring a voice to women and girls to help change the structure of economy and politics.

A big part of ESTROG’s business is participating in events up and down the east coast.

Know your product, help her community.

When you buy Fair Trade, you not only support an impoverished woman, you support her family and community.  Sustainability worldwide is ESTROG’s hope and dream.

COME OUT AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR WOMEN AROUND THE GLOBE.

Double Up SNAP

“We are excited to announce the kickoff of the Double Up Food Bucks SNAP benefit matching program at Greeneville Farmers’ Market and Depot Street Farmers’ Market in partnership with Nourish Knoxville and the Tennessee Department of Health.

How DOUBLE UP Works: Customers who participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) can swipe their EBT card at the market to match up to $20 per day in Double Up tokens to be spent on fresh fruits and vegetables. For instance, a family that spends $10 in their SNAP benefits receives an additional $10 in Double Up tokens to spend at the market for free fresh produce. Double Up is a triple win: low-income families eat more healthy food, area farmers gain new customers and increase revenue, and more food dollars stay in the local economy.

“With Double Up Food Bucks, federal nutrition dollars work harder—simultaneously reducing hunger and supporting healthier diets for SNAP households, while also supposing farmers,” says Charlotte Tolley, Nourish Knoxville Executive Director.

Greeneville Farmers Market is located on the property of The Doak House Museum, part of Tusculum University.  They are open ONLY (no vendors at this time) for online purchases made from http://gfm.locallygrown.net

The online market is open from Monday 3 pm to Thursday 3 pm with pick up on Saturday Mornings between 10 am to 11 am. Online market is open year round, with the Doak House location open May to October.

Only prepaid, purchases will be available during this crisis.

REBOOT AND HANG ON!

It’s tough times, but we are in this together.

We know it’s an inconvenience. We understand that you would prefer to touch, smell and pick out your own produce and products.   But please have faith and trust in your vendors to still provide you with the freshest and best produce or product they have available.  They won’t fail you.    Please don’t fail them.

We will have our product and produce available online only, with pickup location to be announced closer to market opening date of May 9.  Payment to be made on line by Credit Card. No cash or checks to pass hands during the virus outbreak.

It’s in your best interest and the best interest of our vendors to practice social distancing during this crisis and this seems to be the best way to ensure the produce and products that our vendors offer,  can be delivered safely at this time.

We all look forward to a time when these precautions are no longer necessary, and we can all meet once again at the market. Be able to talk, laugh, shake hands, and hug one another.

Oh, how I for one, miss seeing all of you, and your smiling faces.

Please place orders weekly with your favorite vendor, keep them in business, don’t let them go under.

Shop Small, local businesses, even, if for now it can only be online.

Thank you,

Vendors, Volunteers, and Staff of
